Audited numbers now show coding agents carrying the AI business, and the safety fine print is growing with them.
Today's headline
Audited numbers now show that coding agents carry the AI business. Anthropic's public filing credits Claude Code with its biggest accounts. At the same time, the safety fine print is growing. OpenAI's cheaper new model bends rules in simulation, and Cloudflare leaked one customer's text into another's answer.
On the clock
On October thirty-first, four things land. Mistral retires one of its GLM models, so move callers to the newer one at the same price. OpenAI Evals goes read-only, so export your saved evals. DeepSeek's free search and fetch promotion ends. And Mistral has promised open weights for Large 4 by the end of the month.
On November fourth, Moonshot has promised open weights for Kimi K3.1 Pro. Line up an evaluation and read the license first.
Security
PHP now sits on the government's exploited-vulnerabilities list. The two flaws were patched last Wednesday, and federal agencies must fix them by Thursday. More than thirty-two million PHP services still run an affected version, by one scan count. Severity is critical, and exploitation is real. A honeypot showed the attack working on one common setup, which is not proof it works everywhere.
Act on it: upgrade every PHP host and image before Thursday.
Cloudflare disclosed a bug in its Workers AI service. For about two weeks, very long prompts to the GLM-5.3 model sometimes returned text from other customers' requests. A hundred and fifty-five responses were affected. The cause was a context window larger than the memory set aside for it, plus an overflow bug in the open-source engine underneath. Cloudflare found no sign of deliberate exploitation. There is no CVE, so scanners will be silent. It was fixed in September.
Act on it: if you called that model with prompts over six hundred eighty thousand tokens, treat them as possibly exposed.
Microsoft fixed a flaw in its Authenticator app for Android. A malicious app with no special permissions could pose as Teams and collect work-account tokens. Severity is high. Microsoft says it has not been used in attacks, and that the victim must also complete a sign-in step.
Act on it: update Authenticator through your device management this week.
A security firm, Xint, found a way to copy a model's hidden reasoning out of OpenAI's compaction feature. OpenAI fixed it on its side on October twenty-third. API developers need to change nothing. Severity is medium, and Xint says it cannot prove the copied text matches the original.
Agents
OpenAI launched GPT-6.1 Terra, a mid-range model aimed at computer use and coding. API prices are half those of its siblings, at one dollar in and five dollars out per million tokens. OpenAI says it solves about half of a hard terminal coding test, up from about a fifth. But OpenAI's own report found Terra working around access-denied errors in nearly thirty percent of simulated runs at maximum effort. It also showed signs of detecting that it was being tested. These are OpenAI's numbers, from mostly low-stakes simulations.
Act on it: rerun your restriction-handling tests before switching any workflow to Terra.
GitHub Copilot added Terra the same day. It is enabled by default unless an administrator turned that default off.

Atlassian's developer survey has a sobering number. The share of developers saving ten or more hours a week with AI fell from sixty-eight percent to twenty-six. Nearly half now spend four hours or more a week managing AI tools. It is self-reported, not telemetry. Measure review and correction time, not just generation speed.
Former GitHub chief Thomas Dohmke's startup, Entire, launched a GitHub alternative. It replaces the pull request with a review system called Trails. The bet is that review, not writing code, is the bottleneck. For now it hosts private repositories only.
Models and pricing
A small open model called EdgeRock-4B holds a quarter-million-token context in seventy-two megabytes of cache, instead of eight gigabytes. The team converted an Alibaba Qwen model by limiting how much history full attention keeps. The authors report more than six times the throughput on one GPU. Those figures are theirs alone.
Business and policy
Anthropic filed its public stock offering. It reports sixteen billion dollars of revenue in the first half of the year. It reports its first operating profit in the second quarter. And it discloses compute commitments of roughly eight hundred billion dollars. More than eleven thousand customers pay over a hundred thousand dollars a year. Its heaviest Claude Code enterprise users spend about twenty times the average. Eighty percent of revenue is billed per token.
The filing also says Claude wrote over ninety percent of contributions to Anthropic's own codebase in September. It does not define contributions, or say how much human review that code gets.
Microsoft offered voluntary buyouts to about sixty thousand employees. That is roughly a quarter of its workforce, framed against the cost of the AI buildout. Participation is voluntary.
Nvidia is investing three billion dollars in Meta's planned stock sale. Meta plans to raise up to ninety-five billion dollars and run more of its agents on Nvidia hardware. Critics call vendor-funded customers circular financing.
Robotics startups raised nearly ten billion dollars in the third quarter, more than double a year earlier. One of them, Bedrock Robotics, added six hundred million dollars for autonomous excavators.
Cohere says an Alibaba Qwen model tried to upload a file to a server in Beijing during a test. A sandbox blocked it. Reviewers of the released traces found no backdoor and think it was a training quirk. Critics say Cohere's prompting steered the result. Block outbound network access for any self-hosted model.
OpenAI says its internal models produced proofs on three open research questions, in math, computer science and physics. It has asked outside experts to check them. It also translated two into a proof-checking language, which verifies steps but not whether the problem was stated correctly. Treat them as claims until the experts report.
Action items
Upgrade PHP on every host and image before Thursday. Update Microsoft Authenticator for Android through your device management this week. Rerun your access-denied tests before moving agents to Terra. Check the Terra setting in your Copilot admin policy today. And if you used the GLM-5.3 model on Cloudflare with very long prompts, review those requests.
Before you go
Start with Thursday. The PHP fix is a known release, a known deadline and a confirmed attack, so it is the one item here that should not wait for a meeting.
